Does facial yoga routines are the real deal? They are, for sure, a popular self-care beauty routine for sure!
I remember my mom telling to stop making faces as a reaction to every word she said. Now I understand that it was a physical reaction to an emotional trigger, and although I have learned to control my facial expressions a lot better in my adulthood, I still am very transparent when it comes to showing my emotions though my face.
Later in my life, I discovered that I have camera anxiety, which means I get terribly nervous in front of a camera and I start to feel very uncomfortable. I am good at public speaking, as I enjoy teaching classes, participating in panels or giving conferences, but when I have to come out to a microphone all by myself and a camera is pointing at me, gosh I really can’t relax and I usually hate whatever gets recorded. I am very severe with myself in that regard. But when a job opportunity came that required me to record videos and be live on tv, I knew I could not let it pass, so I talked to my therapist about it and he showed me how to apply acupressure to some points over my face to help me relax and get rid of the anxiety. Although my camera anxiety has never left me, those exercises actually helped me cope with it.
Then, I felt curious about facial yoga routines: I want my face to help me feel good about myself and I want to help my face to stay in a good shape. Facial yoga seems to be a good fit for both of my interests.
Even brands like Dior are promoting this kind of skincare routine while presenting their products from their Hydra Life as a tool to make them work better to get a clean and glowing face (check it from minute 1:35). I do too like to put on my skincare products before doing any facial yoga routine, as my skin feels extremely dry and the movements can make it feel itchy.
I have been trying this routine and I don’t expect to see major results, but it totally helps my skin to feel more elastic and the movements make the blood circulate faster through the facial muscles, so I get a lovely-yet-subtle glow. As I said, I definitely like to do it when I put some moisturizer on before.
There are also other exercises that help you get rid of bags under eyes and wrinkles. The Face Yoga Method is my favorite source for these routines, like this one, that doesn’t take more than two minutes.
I might take some pictures or a video of me making the gestures that these facial yoga routines take. If I don’t get rid of my wrinkles, at least I will make your laugh lines show up.
Very interesting! I really enjoyed reading it. I must agree that facial yoga totally helps for skin to feel more elastic and the movements make the blood circulate faster through the facial muscles. I recently started practicing it myself but I found some more useful tips here. Thank you very much for sharing this with us, we are not getting younger, and we need as much as useful tips as we can get. I really hope I will be reading more interesting articles from you soon 🙂
