How- to get a texturized braid

How a lovely gathering with Eva Longoria can get even better? I learned the answer to that in the JCPenney launching of her new home collection, where I had my hair braided by Tara, who is part of super famous hair stylist Ken Paves’ team. The final hair look I got made me think of those texturized-loose braids we’ve seen on the catwalk during last month’s fashion weeks.

Guido Palau explained to American Salon the creative process for Valentino’s show (S/S 2017 during Paris Fashion Week): “We’re doing a long, romantic braid at the Valentino show. On clean hair, we’re braiding using Wind Blown 05 (editor’s note: He is referring to a Redken dry hair spray styling product) to help texturize. Then we’re slightly waving the front around the hairline with a curling iron. It’s a very soft, very romantic, very feminine, very girly, very desirable finished look. It’s slightly Victorian-inspired, but in a 1970’s way.”

GET THE LOOK: TEXTURED BRAID

1. On clean hair, create a clean center part with fingers. Allow hair to fully air-dry.
2.  Use a curling iron to curl random sections of hair to achieve movement.
3.  Curl each of the front 1-inch sections of hair, away from the face.
4.  Pull two 1-inch sections of hair from the front, cross over in the back and secure with a bobby pin on each side.
5.  Spray with a light- hold product on the back length of hair for added airy texture.
6.  Starting below the pinned sections of hair, loosely braid the length of hair and secure with a hair tie.
7.  Use fingers to create added volume and texture throughout the crown of hair.

This is the final look of my hairdo by Tara. I dubbed it «texturized half braid».
