The one piece of clothing you REALLY need to have, to keep it cool and pro.
What’s the cheapest, easiest, yet classiest style a young women can get away with wearing to work?
This question was made by someone who, in her own words «hate shopping, detest getting dressed in the morning». And I totally get that. She also said that she wouldn’t mind to wear some kind of «uniform» on a daily basis, although she knew she needs to keep her choices «about maintaining a professional, easy-on the eyes appearance», and how to accomplish this without spending too much.
And I had an «AHA!» moment.
There is one piece of clothing that I have found the most versatile when it comes to making every wardrobe combination look much more dressed up. I would suggest you to get some blazers. This piece is extremely easy to put together with mostly anything you are wearing, making it looking from more formal to even cooler than just the plain everyday clothes you decide to put on.
The most basic one you need to get first should in navy, as it is a neutral color that goes well with every skin tone and, also, combine with every other color (including black). The material can be cotton and/ or wool, depending of the weather where you live and work. Then, you can get more colors and print to throw on every day.
Please, don’t fall in the temptation of getting the same model in every color, as it will not look as a piece of wardrobe, but as an uniform, which might not help to your status as a grown up professional. Instead, focus on getting around three blazers, all of a different color and/ or print, and wear them mixed with your usual pants and shirt combination (or skirt, or dress or whatever you usually wear to work). Putting on accessories also helps, but as a piece of clothing, the blazer is my piece to go.
Here you can find a bunch of ideas of how a blazer work so well with every kind of wardrobe combinations Blazers that makes an outfit work . That’s my Pinterest board full of ideas to style this piece of wardrobe. Don’t be shy and browse around my other boards to get extra inspired.

You are a super smart girl. Yes, a fitted leather jacket has also a sort of empowering feel. And it requires the right attitude to actually get away with it. Kudos!
