Because money and power don’t buy common sense or empathy. If they wanted reactions for the jacket, they definitely got them.
A tasteless pick in clothes is becoming the mainstream style of this administration, (although we are talking about a former model-became-millionaire wife) and people around the world have been sharing their thoughts regarding the message written all over the back of the First Lady’s military green Zara jacket on June 21st, 2018. She wore it after she visited an immigrant camp for children separated from their family at the border, following the «zero-tolerance» policy put in place by the DOJ.
«It’s a jacket,» her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement to Business Insider. «There was no hidden message. After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe. (Much like her high heels last year.)»
BEST TWITTER REACTIONS TO MELANIA’S JACKET SAGA
Well, it seems that not only the media but the rest of the free world who have access to the internet has focused on the matter way more than Stephanie Grisham was expecting. Even the president had his opinion twitted.
“I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!

And some people agreed with him
Thank you for saying this. Seems 90% of conflict is from assumptions. Not asking,”what did that mean?” The smug MSM has a pre-existing bias. Seems every breath the Trumps take is an opportunity to destroy them. If I were FLOTUS I wouldn’t care either.

But there was a lot of backlashes in most people’s reactions. Like Tyler McCall, who is witty to point out a theory that explained Melania’s pick.
In all fairness, her «Fuck everyone who isn’t rich and white» jacket was at the cleaners. https://t.co/pLwM5SVbyh

One of my favorite reactions are those that have a call-to-action, like these examples:

And these activist moms:

There is also the news that her go-to stylist Hervé Pierre, didn’t know about the jacket the last time he worked with her creating outfits. He was on a plane flying to Paris to show his collection when the first pictures of FLOTUS wearing the now infamous jacket in a 90-degree weather were posted.

And some other theories of how that jacket landed in Melania’s hands
#IDontReallyCareDoU Coincidence? The Trumps just hosted Spanish royals at the WH Tues. Zara clothing line owner is richest man in world. Here’s is same Spanish queen that was w/ Trumps tues, wearing Zara. Was the jacket a gift? #MelaniaAntoinette #Zarajacket #melaniasjacket pic.twitter.com/8yGNtMKgHg

A lot of people have said it is just a jacket and it shouldn’t be taken as an official statement or anything else than a piece of clothing. But for me, it definitely carries a message that can be read in several ways, most of them under a very bad light.

And finally, I am echoing stylist-fashion guru Patricia Field (yes, that PF from Sex and the City series): Love your body, be true to yourself and wear whatever makes you happy. Unless…
Unless you are a public server, a.k.a. a politician, or you are related to one and doing activities as representative of the government. #melaniajacket https://t.co/DA2wNt3Aws

What do you think about all of this? Do you think it’s just a jacket and people are over reading it or are you a believer it was a poor taste chose by accident? Maybe you are feeling Eileen Truax’s tweet too
I really thought this was a meme. What is a meme is this administration. https://t.co/8pz5pfwg0k
