If you find yourself troubled by oily skin, dry skin, acne breakouts, skin discoloration, or even fine lines and wrinkles, you can benefit greatly from using a simple facial mask once per week.
I am a sucker for Korean beauty and their facial sheets full with different essences and other crazy unexpected ingredients are wonderful for my skin. But sometimes it is better to give yourself the home-made treatment and create your own concoctions to achieve beautiful skin in a more affordable way.
Coconut oil, when used as the base of your face mask, offers cleansing, moisturizing, and and anti-aging benefits due to its lauric acid. Combine it with natural ingredients you might already have in your pantry and fridge and you can create the following facial masks:
*Base for all of the following recipes: 2 tablespoons of coconut oil.
Facial mask for oily skin:
- Coconut oil base*
- 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar
After combine the ingredients, apply the mask to your skin and allow it to set for 10 to 15 minutes before washing it off and moisturizing as usual.
You can repeat the mask treatments as often as daily, and as sparingly as weekly.
Why this works: The apple cider vinegar dries up excess oil without drying out skin. For maximum benefits, select apple cider vinegar that is unfiltered, unpasteurized, organic and non-GMO. This enzyme-rich variety of vinegar will provide you with a number of amazing benefits for your skin.
Facial mask for dry skin:
- Coconut oil base*
- 2 teaspoons of honey
- 1 teaspoon of almond milk
After combine the ingredients, apply the mask to your skin and allow it to set for 10 to 15 minutes before washing it off and moisturizing as usual.
You can repeat the mask treatments as often as daily, and as sparingly as weekly.
Why this works: This three ingredients combined help skin restore moisture and improve the its ability to retain moisture.
Facial mask for puffy skin:
- Coconut oil base*
- 2 tablespoons of espresso coffee (on its liquid form)
- 2 tablespoons of natural cocoa (in powder)
- For dry skin add 1 tablespoon of honey
- For oily skin add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Please take notice: Avoid direct sunlight while wearing this combination in order to avoid discoloration because of the lemon juice)
After combine the ingredients, apply the mask to your skin and allow it to set for 10 to 15 minutes before washing it off and moisturizing as usual.
You can repeat the mask treatments as often as daily, and as sparingly as weekly.
Why this works: The espresso and cocoa carry on them phytochemicals that help to relieve inflammation.
Facial mask to help with skin discoloration:
- Coconut oil base*
- 1/2 cup fresh pumpkin pulp.
After combine the ingredients, apply the mask to your skin and allow it to set for 10 to 15 minutes before washing it off and moisturizing as usual.
You can repeat the mask treatments as often as daily, and as sparingly as weekly.
Why this works: The antioxidants contained in pumpkin pulp help to restore proper pigmentation levels of the skin, and help reduce blotchiness and discoloration.
