Looking for a simple yet fun way to look younger? Just add freckles.
One of the strongest-yet-unexploded beauty trends this year have been celebrating face freckles. For so long freckles have been neglected from the beauty standards, but it is obvious that times are changing and redemption is here for those who have them naturally. If it is not your case, there are two ways to get the look.
Fake them.
Yes, you can create freckles with makeup. With a brow liner or a light brown eyeliner to be more accurate. There’s even a Top Shop development of a specific two-tone of brown pencil to create the look. For my try on this look, I used ELF Instant Lift Brow pencil in an ash brown tone that worked wonders. But truth be told, from the distance the freckles look cute but if you look close to them you won’t fool anyone; they will look like what they are: makeup.
Make them.
The latest take on the teeny-tattooing practice is called “freckling,” where cosmetic tattoo artists speckle freckles across the tops of cheeks and nose using a semi-permanent tattooing technique. As it comes with needles, it takes time to accomplish the desired amount of freckles and each of the newly created ones will look like a bee sting for a couple of hours (or a bit more depending on your skin sensibility) but it will look even more natural about 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure, when the semi-permanent ink is diffused and the color is softer. They apparently disappear in two years -remember, we are talking about face tattoos so once you do it there is not turn around from it nor you will know how it will look later for sure-. The cost? About $250 with an experienced (you totally want someone experienced to tattoo your face!) cosmetic tattoo artist, and it takes around one hour to have it done.
Here you can watch the process being done on three Aussie girls for Buzzfeed Australia:
It doesn’t seem that the freckle hype is going away soon. Would you jump on it?
